This is unique to each child that attends, however I ask for a commitment of 12 sessions.
We will meet regularly to discuss how your child is doing, both in therapy and at home and school. When there are improvements in areas of concern, and you and your child feel ready, we will discuss an appropriate time to end.
Your child is welcome to return to therapy at a future time if needed.
I work with children as young as three years of age and there is no upper age limit.
I provide a non-judgmental space and no prior experience or artistic skill is required. There is no right or wrong way to make art.
Consistency and regular attendance are important. It can also be helpful to provide your child with old clothing so that they can be free to fully express themselves...including making a mess!
It is natural to feel curious about what your child did in therapy, however asking about this can put pressure on a child to articulate their experiences. One of the benefits of creative psychotherapy is that children can express themselves and resolve difficulties without needing to find words.
Regular meetings with the therapist provide an opportunity for discussion and also to learn new ways to help your child with difficulties such as managing big feelings.
